Space in our lives appears to be disappearing every day. We have so many things to do and so little time to do them. I rarely get bored now. There is something that can distract me at any time now. The problem is this is kind of behavior is celebrated these days. Whatever happened to relaxing and sitting for a moment with nothing to do? Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, βA designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.β Are you going to choose and design your life? Start by removing the clutter.
As an Apple user, I love the design of their products, packaging, commercials, etc. The thing that makes Apple products timeless is their ability to create complex devices with a beautiful and clean design . This design speaks volumes even when the device is turned off. When Steve Jobs returned to Apple, Jobs got to work reducing the number of Apple products by 70 percent. For Apple, Less is More.
Less is more is an important concept for us to learn. We have learned over the years to overstuff our lives with meetings, activities, and additional ambitions, accumulating a laundry list of things we do in the name of busyness. I am guilty of sharing with others how busy I have been like it is a badge of honor. What stinks about being busy is that you are too busy to do anything.
I have missed out on some great opportunities, ideas, and time. Filling your life up to capacity sounds like a great idea until something better than you have comes along. In order to take advantage of occasion, you need space.

The biggest challenge that I run into is being able to say βNoβ. I am continuing to learn this skill. This is a skill that you need in order to create space in your life. These are called boundaries. They are designed to keep somethings out, keep things in, and provides us the opportunity to choose what comes in.
